Angels are, in many religious and spiritual traditions, spirits thought to be messengers of God. In fact, the word "Angel" is a combination of the Old English word engel and the Old French angele. As both stem from the Latin angelus the "Angel" literally means messenger.

The opinion of what angels look like varies though they are generally thought to be human-like in form and have wings.

Many studies worldwide show that a significant portion of the population believes in angels and, also, believe they've had an encounter with an angel.

Whether saved from harm or death by an angel or the angel came in a dream to deliver a message of some kind, even those who are not religious or spiritual are noted to believe in the presence of angels.
